Treatment

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection is the procedure where one sperm is injected into the egg. This is skilful job done by the experienced embryologist in the lab using special equipment called Micromanipulator. It has an inverted microscope to aid the magnification required for the procedure.
Only few sperms are required and is recommended in men with very low sperm counts, or when sperm has been retrieved surgically from the epididymis (MESA/PESA) or the testes. (See section on Surgical sperm recovery for details).
Previous Fertilization failure is another indication where in ICSI is useful.
